Worship Team Value Statement

Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
Acts 20:28

Biblical Authority: “A Better Way to Do Life”
We will present God’s Word with grace and truth. We recognize its authority and our need to adjust to it. (John 1:14)

Relational Intimacy: “Grace and Truth”
No matter what disconnected you from God, Jesus is the only way to reconnect with Him. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 6, 8)

Intentional Apprenticeship: “More Like Jesus”
Apprenticeship is the process whereby one person becomes more like another person. We believe that the ultimate goal in life is to become more like Jesus. This involves working on the inside of your life to align it with God’s love and truth. It also requires eliminating any automatic responses you have that go against God’s good intentions for you.

Authentic Community: “Me Too”
Pursuing truth together is the best opportunity for truly living out and applying that truth. (Acts 2:42-47 and 4:32-35)

Gifted Service: “Purpose and Personality”
We recognize that God distributes Spiritual Gifts (time, talents, treasure) to equip the Church in order to serve as Christ to the world. (Romans 12, Galatians 5)

Excellent Environments: “Bump Into Jesus”
We aren’t in the business of changing people. Rather, we embrace our role as creating a space where people can work out their stu with Jesus. (Colossians 3:17)

Relational Evangelism: “Come and See”
We will intentionally leverage our in uence in the world for the purpose of introducing people to the awesome love of Christ. (Mark 2, Matthew 28)

As leaders at Flatirons Community Church we each bear a responsibility to support these core values. It is important that we hold ourselves, and each other, accountable to following these values while modeling them for those we lead.

Each one of these values relates to our worship ministry. For example, the authority of scripture not only guides us in the best way to live, but it is also the foundation for the songs we select. We communicate God’s invitation to a better way of life through the songs we sing and through the way we live our lives off the stage.

At Flatirons Community Church anyone is welcome to attend and have the opportunity to bump into Jesus in the context of Grace and Truth. Not everyone is allowed to serve in any and every capacity. There are certain roles that carry with them a greater responsibility in regard to their direct connection to teaching, leading and influencing others within our Church community. When we stand on stage, those sitting in the seats associate us with all that Flatirons represents.

As a member of the worship team we do not have an expectation that you are without sin, or do not have struggles in your life. We do however expect that your desire is to not only embrace the grace that Jesus has given you, but also the truth that He commands you to follow. Most simply put, we are asking everyone on the team to hold themselves to a Biblical standard of leadership and live a lifestyle consistent with Scripture. For example we expect members of the worship team to abstain from drug use, sexual activity outside of marriage, and alcohol abuse.

Our goal is that this team would be a fun, encouraging environment for all members. We are all expected to be teachable, to care well for other volunteers, to come prepared for rehearsals and services, to humbly serve Christ’s church through our gifts, and to live lives that reflect our values.
