Breaking the Cycle of Fatherlessness

Fatherlessness in America is a crisis impacting abandoned boys and the single moms left to raise them. Forge was created to help break this cycle by providing intentional, Christ-centered mentorship for boys aged 9-16. Through trained, godly men called Guides, we offer hope and healing to boys facing the harsh realities of growing up without a father.

Become a Guide

We’re calling on godly men to step up and become mentors, or Guides, for boys who need a positive role model. As a Guide, you’ll walk alongside your Apprentice, taking him to church, completing service projects, and having meaningful discussions about life and faith. Through your commitment, you’ll give him hope and show him the path to becoming the man God designed him to be.

SINGLE MOMS, WE SEE YOU

As a single mom, you carry the weight of raising a son on your own, but you don’t have to do it alone. The Forge ministry partners your son with a godly man who will be a role model, spiritual guide, and trusted friend. Together, we’ll work to enable your son to grow up with the confidence, faith, and character to thrive.

WHY MENTORSHIP MATTERS

A Guide’s role is more than just a mentor—it’s about transforming lives. Boys without fathers face a future full of uncertainty, but with a Guide, they can break free from the cycle of abandonment. Through prayer, conversation, and service, these boys will begin to understand their true value and how deeply they’re loved by God.

Be the Man These Boys Need

When boys grow up without a committed father, the statistics are staggering—they're more likely to drop out of school, engage in risky behaviors, and struggle with mental health challenges. Forge is here to break the cycle. Through one-on-one mentorship, boys learn to embrace the love of their Heavenly Father and build the foundation for a successful life.

FAQs

How does the mentorship program work?

Each boy is paired with a Guide, a Christian man who commits to mentoring him for at least one year, with the option to extend for up to two more years. During that time, they attend church together twice a month, participate in service projects, and engage in intentional faith discussions that focus on the boy's identity and purpose in Christ.

Who can become a Guide?

Christian men who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of fatherless boys can apply to be Guides. All applicants must go through a thorough vetting process that includes background checks, references, and interviews to ensure they are equipped to mentor and lead.

What kind of support do Guides receive?

Guides are supported by Coaches, who provide ongoing training, prayer, and resources. Coaches meet with Guides regularly to offer encouragement and help navigate challenges. Guides also connect with other mentors through monthly meetings for additional support and accountability.

What kind of activities do the boys and Guides do together?

Each month, Guides and their apprentices attend church services together, complete a community service project, and engage in a fun activity. Every outing is designed to include a faith discussion centered on the boy's identity in Christ and God's love for him.

What kind of time commitment is required from Guides?

Guides are asked to commit to at least one year of mentoring. This includes attending church twice a month with their Apprentice, participating in a monthly service project, and having an additional fun activity combined with a faith discussion.

How does a Single Mom apply to place her boy in the ministry?

Single moms can start by attending our interest meeting happening on November 10 at 12:30. You can sign up for the meeting here.

What is the age group of boys that are eligible for the ministry?

We want to be there for boys during some of the most impactful years of their lives, so we're focusing on young men between the ages of 9 and 16.

Where is Forge located?

Forge will launch out of the Longmont Campus of Flatirons Church, with plans to expand to more campuses in the future.

How are the Guides (Mentors) chosen and qualified for the ministry?

Guides are selected through an in-depth vetting process to ensure they’re fully equipped to mentor boys and provide a safe, supportive environment. Each potential Guide must submit an application that includes a statement of faith, community and pastoral references, and a national background check. Applicants also participate in an in-person interview with Forge Coaches and pastors to evaluate their readiness. Only those who meet our high standards for character, faith, and commitment are chosen. Once selected, Guides receive training and ongoing support to help them succeed in their role.

What if I want to help in the ministry but am not prepared to become a Guide?

If you're not ready to become a Guide, there are plenty of other ways to get involved! You can support the ministry by volunteering at events, helping with service projects, or becoming a Coach to provide guidance to mentors and single moms. There are many opportunities to make a difference, and every role is vital in supporting the boys and their families. Come to our internet meeting on November 10 at 12:30 to learn how your skills and passion can contribute! Sign up here.
