// Discussion Questions

  1. Read Proverbs 12:18 and Proverbs 25:11. How can we become more mindful of the words we use in our daily interactions with others? What is one personal example of when you used your words to build someone up, and how did it make you feel?

  1. We learned that unwise words can harm while smart ones can heal and that a kind response can calm down anger. How may applying this wisdom from Proverbs strengthen our relationships with others?

  1. Read Proverbs 31:8-9. This passage and Ben’s message highlights that our words have the power to bring justice, advocate for the oppressed, and encourage those who are struggling. Who in your life or community could benefit from your words of encouragement and advocacy, and what specific actions can you take to make a positive impact?

  1. Ben identified four characteristics as traits of wise individuals and the important guidelines for using our words for good and bringing healing to those around us (Honest, Timely, Calm, and Few). Do you struggle with any of these characteristics in your own speech? If so, which ones and how can you work on improving?

  1. As followers of Jesus, we must use our words to bring blessing and healing to those around us and be intentional about when to speak up or stay silent. How can we train our minds and hearts to guide the words we use in our daily interactions with others?

// Challenge:  What strategies or actions from this week can you put into practice to make sure your words align with these principles in your daily life, to help bring the light of Christ to the lost and broken world around us?
