// Discussion Questions

  1. The sermon emphasizes the principle of putting God first in our lives and trusting Him with our finances. What does it mean to put God first in your life, and how can you practically do this? Can you think of a time when you struggled to put God first in your life? How did you overcome this challenge?
  2. Read Genesis 4:1-5. Pastor Jim discusses the difference between Abel's offering of the firstborn of his flock, and Cain's offering of some of his harvest when he had time. How does the biblical story of Cain and Abel relate to tithing, and what can we learn from their offerings? In what ways can you ensure that your tithes and offerings demonstrate a strong commitment to God's principles?
  3. Read Colossians 1:15-20, we learn that Jesus' sacrificial role as the 'ultimate' firstborn and first fruit was God's profound gift to redeem humanity. Consider how God's action in giving His best relates to the principle of tithing. In what ways does this revelation challenge your understanding and practice of tithing? How can you apply the knowledge that God held nothing back from humanity to your own stewardship and generosity?
  4. Read Malachi 3:6,8-10. According to Pastor Jim, tithing is a tangible reminder of God's deliverance and provision, and it reveals whether believers trust God or money. How do you think tithing can impact your personal relationship with God? Describe a time when you experienced God's provision, either directly or indirectly, as a result of prioritizing God with your finances?
  5. Pastor Jim emphasizes that leaders should lead by example, demonstrating their own trust in God through tithing. Why is it important for leaders to set an example by practicing tithing, and how can their actions influence others? In your own life, how have you seen leaders setting an example in matters of faith, and how has it impacted your own spiritual journey?
