Ephesians 4:7
Apostles. A person who is commissioned to take the Gospel to a specific place.
Prophets. A person who calls people to align their lives to the Word of God.
Evangelists. A person who takes the Gospel to people who have never heard it.
Shepherds. A person who takes pastoral care of God’s people.
Teachers. A person who is able to teach God’s Word in an understandable way.
Romans 12:3-8
Service. The gift of humbly doing what needs to be done for the benefit of others.
Exhortation/Encouragement. The gift of earnestly advising and showing believers how to keep following Jesus in hard times and not give up.
Generosity. The gift of financially giving to the local church so that the mission of Jesus can move forward. Anybody, no matter what their financial status, can have this gift.
Zealous Leadership. The gift of seeing something that needs to be done and doing it zealously. No need to be asked or manipulated into leading.
Acts of Mercy. The gift of getting down in the dirt with the dirtiest, most unwanted, most hated, least cared about people in their world and taking care of them when no one else will. The sick, the leper, the prisoner, the alien, the orphan, the widow. Not begrudgingly but with cheerfulness.
1 Corinthians 12:1-11
The utterance of wisdom. The gift of knowing and articulating the wisest choice rather than simply knowing right from wrong.
The gift of knowledge. Combined with wisdom, this gift enables people to properly handle and interpret God's Word.
Discernment. The gift of distinguishing if something is spiritually true or not and knowing when there is something more going on.
Healing. The gift of being compassionate toward the sick and praying over them while being a vessel for God to heal some. Those who have this gift are not deterred when God chooses not to.
Miracles. The gift that the Lord gave to the church to perform special signs that give evidence to the truth of the message of Jesus Christ.
Tongues. The gift of being able to speak spiritual languages or the ability to teach the Gospel to people who speak a different language than your native language.
