- Jim mentioned that repentance is more than just feeling sorry for our past mistakes; it’s about changing our mindset and choosing to follow the way of Jesus over our own or the world. In what ways do you think trusting in Jesus opens the door to a transformed life? How have you experienced the Holy Spirit working to make life changes that once felt impossible?
- Read Romans 7:15-19. Jim talked about Paul’s raw struggle of not doing what he wants and doing what he hates. Where do you see this kind of struggle play out in your own life? How can being aware of this inner battle impact the way you approach your daily walk with Jesus? What practical steps can help you lean into His strength when facing these moments?
- Read Romans 8:29. Jim explained that having 'faith in Jesus' is the first step, but developing the 'faith of Jesus' is a gradual process of being conformed to His image. How would you describe the difference between having 'faith in Jesus' and embodying the 'faith of Jesus'? Why do you think it’s important to move beyond belief to develop the faith of Jesus in your life? What changes might that bring to your day-to-day actions and mindset?
- Read Matthew 8:23-27. Jim pointed out that the faith of Jesus gave Him the perspective to not only rest in the storm but to calm it. Think of a recent situation where you felt anxious or overwhelmed by one of life’s storms. How did you respond at that moment? How do you think your perspective or response might have been different if you had approached it with the faith of Jesus?
- Jim mentioned that being led by the Spirit is a journey that requires intentional effort. What habits or practices could help you become more sensitive to His guidance? How can this group support and encourage you as you strive to develop and live out the faith of Jesus?
// Challenge: Think about specific areas in your life where you wish you had the faith of Jesus—perhaps in relationships, work challenges, or personal struggles. What are some of these situations, and why is having Jesus’ perspective important in them? As a group, how can we pray for each other to gain this deeper faith and perspective?
